Program Notes

Jan Van der Roost wrote this festive overture for the Yokohama Art Festival. The theme is an obvious reflection of the vibrant, dynamic city of Yokohama. The chorale-like moments in this energetic and colourful composition reflect the stately beauty of the symbol of the city: the rose.
