Program Notes

World of Wonder was commissioned by the Riverwatch Middle School Band, Suwanee, Georgia, Matt Koperniak, Director. I was impressed by the school's core beliefs which focus on developing a happy, healthy, and hardy environment for all. It is their belief that by developing a culture based on these three principles they will maximize student success, not only within school, but within life. Upon reflection, a happy, healthy and hardy community would be a sight to behold – a wonder. It is a vision for the future that the RMS students, faculty and staff embrace. This work springs from these ideals and is dedicated to those who are working to make it a reality – dedicated to those creating a World of Wonder,

World of Wonder was commissioned by the Riverwatch Symphonic Band to open their Midwest performance. There are three sections to this piece, each corresponding to the core Riverwatch beliefs: Happy, Healthy, and Hardy. At Riverwatch, it is their belief that by developing a happy, healthy, and hardy culture for all they will maximize student success not only within school, but within life. With a student population representing over 70 different countries, Riverwatch Middle School embodies a world of diverse cultures.
