Program Notes

Unlike most of David Sanford's works, this early quintet is one of the few that didn’t change drastically over time. It was premiered in 1985 by a student group at University of Northern Colorado, and one of those musicians is currently a clarinetist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Originally comprised of three movements, Dr. Sanford found the third movement to be most enjoyable for the audience and performers alike.
