Program Notes
The Winter Songbook is an ongoing collaborative project for composer M. Alex Arellano and the Central California Youth Wind Ensemble (CCYWE). The Songbook is currently planned to be premiered in parts, year by year, by the CCYWE at its yearly winter concert cycle.
The first movement is an aural landscape, painting the picture of the famous "Northern Lights," and has the simple purpose of capturing the grandness of the beautiful natural event through music.
