Program Notes

James Croft served as director of bands (DOB) at Florida State University from 1980 until his death in 2012 [editor's note: Croft served as DOB until 2003]. His arrangement of this Bach chorale has been played around the world since its creation in 1978. Its creative scoring for both winds and voices has ranked it as a superbly unique composition in late-mid-century wind repertoire.
