Program Notes

Commissioned by the Kappa Kappa Psi North Central District Commissioning Consortium Headed by Alpha Beta Chapter of Butler University, Tim Mastic, coordinator

Whirlwind is a brief, caffeinated work for winds and percussion. Developed entirely from the opening scalar gesture, the music perpetually swirls around and through the ensemble, unfurling into a bombastic climax, then abruptly dissipating into thin air.
