Program Notes

Inspired by the life-giving forces of Mother Nature in spring, Randall Standridge has created a beautiful, lyrical band work. In addition to the engaging, lightly syncopated melodies, interesting harmonies and masterful blends of wind and percussion sounds, this work also brings the sounds of nature to the concert band palette with the use of “thunder rolls” in the bass drum and snapping fingers imitating the sounds of rain. The work calls for seven percussion and piano and makes a great selection for bands with larger percussion sections.
