Program Notes

Westridge Overture is a festive and joyful overture for young band. Composer James Barnes wonderfully combines melody and counterpoint in both vigorous and melodious passages. In the slow middle part the flute presents an emotional melody, which is later played by the whole orchestra. The final part brings back the joyful sounds of the beginning and Westridge Overture ends in a festive finale.
