Program Notes

West Wind Overture by the renowned Julie Giroux is the result of a commission by a band consortium including the Sacramento Symphonic Winds organized by the Western and Northwestern Divisions of the College Band Directors National Association. The composer rejected her first effort as “unacceptable” when she heard it performed in late 2011, and vowed to red and re-issue it.
