Program Notes

Ilari Hylkilä composed the Waltz, as known as Waltz Unforgettable, in 2014. First he wrote it for concert band. Later he arranged it for symphony orchestra, string orchestra, string quartet and flex band.

This flexible version of the Waltz allows directors to adapt to situations with very limited instrumentation.

Performance Notes

The piece is broken down into five parts that are playable by most members of the band or orchestra. The optional piano part helps to rehearse and perform the piece even if you don't have players for some of the parts. Optional parts for percussions are included to provide even more variety.
