Program Notes
First published in 1979, this masterful work for solo flute and band is available again in this newly engraved edition. The solo part displays a variety of styles from beautifully expressive lyric lines to spirited faster passages, all supported wonderfully by the full ensemble.
- Program Note from publisher
Considering the number of outstanding flute players found in our schools, college and university today [1979], it is surprising to find almost no significant literature for solo flute and band. The publishers are proud to present this outstanding new work -- the first serious contemporary work published for this medium in over fifteen years. Although the composition is a true showcase for the ... flute soloist, the strong melodic elements, musical contrasts, rhythmic vitality and interesting accompanying band part give it broad audience appeal.
