Program Notes
Steve Hodges has taken traditional march elements and crafted a wonderful, bright march that really shines. The mid-voices carry the melody in the opening before the trumpets and woodwinds run with it. There are plenty of teaching opportunities here too, with some easy syncopation, modulation from Eb to Ab major, and some very effective call and response phrasing in the trio section.
