Program Notes

A lot of mixed feelings about marches the last few years, but they are a big part of band heritage. A lot of contests and festivals still require or suggest one be played. The school I teach at is "military style", so marches are a BIG part of what we play in the high school.

I started writing grade I marches last year because it's so hard to find traditional style for younger bands. I start my junior high kids early on marches. Now I've made it available for flex arrangement.

The U.S.S. Hornet was a World War II aircraft carrier. It was sunk by the Japanese in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands in 1942, and was rediscovered in 2019.
