Program Notes
These early transcriptions turn two harpsichord pieces by Domenico Scarlatti – a Pastorale and a Capriccio – into quirky little arrangements for wind, brass and timpani.
Note by Gerard McBurney
The work received its premiere performance in Leningrad in November of 1928 by the Soviet Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Nikolai Malko.
