Program Notes
With the musical call of "Land ho!" echoing across the band, this seafaring adventure is off to a rollicking start. A pirate's tale unfolds, complete with buried treasure and a battle on the high seas. Written in rondo form, a strong, driving pirate theme serves as a unifying force throughout the piece, surrounding two contrasting musical sections.
