Program Notes

To All Things Left Behind was written to celebrate the life of Lonnie Stover, who finished his music education career as supervisor of music for the Sycamore School District in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lonnie left an amazing legacy, having been a music educator in Ohio for 27 years, teaching in Forest Hills, Brooklyn, Field and Sycamore School districts. He had spent the last 19 years teaching band to hundreds of Sycamore students and loving every minute of it. An accomplished musician, arranger and composer who had written many pieces for his bands, he conducted several honor bands in Ohio and continued to give back to the profession he loved well into the later years of his life.

I was beyond honored to have the chance to tell Lonnie's story through this piece, and the title is meant to signify everything that Lonnie left behind for all those who knew him. I will be forever grateful to Sycamore High School director of bands James Blankenship as well as band and orchestra booster president Joe Galyon for the opportunity to be a part of this celebration of Lonnie's life.
