Program Notes

The title of the piece, A Time to Dance, is taken from Ecclesiastes 3:1-4: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; ...A time to kill, and a time to heal; ...A time to weep, and time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance...." The music is light and melodic, and is written to uplift the soul and put a smile on your face. This piece was composed with the young band in mind to supply rhythmic interest and solo opportunities This work was premiered at the 1999 Midwest Clinic by the Space Center Intermediate Band of Houston, Texas, with the composer conducting.
