Program Notes
This composition was adapted by the composer in 1966 for mixed voices, brass octet, and timpani from Section IV of his Four Sacred Songs for the Night (1961; originally composed for SSA women's voices a cappella). Its celebratory mood and sacred text together make it a particularly appropriate work for events such as morning church services and Easter observance.
