Program Notes
Suite for Six Trumpets is Grant’s very first piece for trumpet ensemble and was inspired by the discovery of the National Trumpet Competition during his later days of high school. Once in college, he took his first attempt at writing the piece in hopes that it would someday make an appearance on stage at the National Trumpet Competition.
This composition, showcasing the brilliant color and depth of a trumpet ensemble, is in three movements. It was performed at the 2012 National Trumpet Competition and 2013 International Trumpet Guild Conference by Virginia Commonwealth University’s Trumpet Ensembles, and on a 2012-2013 world tour by the United States Army Band the “Pershing’s Own” Trumpet Ensemble.
