Sound the Trumpets was written to showcase both The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets and The U.S. Army Concert Band as equal partners. “Bold and bright” outer sections surround a slower middle section that quotes “Sound the trumpet” by Baroque composer Henry Purcell.
