Program Notes

Clifton Williams' final legacy for band, Songs of Heritage, was outlined in score form upon his demise in 1976. Conceived as a tribute to the composers and musicians among our forebears, the composition is indigenous of the fife and drum corps, the cakewalk, the shuffle dance, and the ballads of Stephen Foster. In a contemporary band idiom, it also reflects the present-day trends in America's musical life.
