Program Notes

This pensive yet tuneful composition was written to honor the life and memory of a middle school band member. It provides an emotional depth that makes it an excellent vehicle for expressive growth and development.

Sonatina was commissioned by the Gautier Middle School Band, Gautier, Mississippi, Louise Smith, Director, and was dedicated to Danielle Sargent Sherman.
