Program Notes

Just the music you need for creating a suspenseful atmosphere. Staccato wind figures paint a picture of someone quietly sneaking up on an unsuspecting victim for a surprising practical joke. The tension builds with added dissonances as the hunter closes in on the quarry, the music building in anticipation, the tension mounting. Upon reaching the end, the music springs the trap with a musical "boo" that results in a hearty scream in fear from the band.

Imagine … it's the middle of the night. You have heard your older sister get up to get a drink of water. As she walks towards the kitchen you decided to sneak up behind her. Careful now, you have to step lightly so that there are no creaks, no sounds, she cannot hear you. Oooops, she turns around! Make sure you are in the shadows. She finally reaches where you are standing BOO! Your sister screams with terror.
