Program Notes

A Sleighride Party was presumably written for orchestra originally, and this band transcription dates from 1886. The piece is a series of tunes and dances set to an informal program with some brief descriptions appearing above the different sections in the solo cornet part. They are as follows: “Invitation to Sleighride,” “Start,” “Love Declaration,” “Answer,” “On The Way,” and “Returning Home.”
