Program Notes

Composed in the key of C minor, this inviting new work is reminiscent of the Slavic folk song tradition. The opening and closing sections are dance-like in character. These sections frame the slower, more cantabile middle section, which is marked “Meno Mosso.”

-Program Note from The Instrumentalist, August 2014, p. 43

Slavic Celebration, a work for young bands, is reminiscent of Slavic folk songs. The dance-like character of the 4/4 Allegro sections frame a slower and haunting middle section in 3/4 time. The dynamic and tempo markings within each section maximize the style, and make for a more satisfying performance.

- Program Note by the Utah Wind Symphony
