Slava Kazykin

Slava Kazykin (b. 1968, Kiev, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian composer, arranger, performer and educator.

Slava Kazykin was born and raised in Kiev (USSR), in the Podol district located in the city center, where Russians, Ukrainians, Romanians, and Jews were neighbors, and where music erased the borders between nationalities. Unparalleled richness, traditional music resonated at festivals, weddings, funerals, and punctuated daily life with their variety of timbres and emotions.

Mr. Kazykin studied at Académie de musique Tchaïkovski de Kiev in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Arrived in France, he wanted to bring these cosmopolitan roots to light and created the Slava Kazykin Ensemble, with which he perpetuated the traditions of his native district, in an abundance of Slavic music.
