Program Notes

There are very few works for soprano and grade 3 band. Thanks to Dr. Brett Richardson at the University of the Incarnate Word for leading a consortium of colleges and ensembles to commission this work. The music is technically accessible, yet still artistically mature with a strong lyrical flow. What a joy it was to set these timeless Walt Whitman poems to music – Look Down Fair Moon, A Clear Midnight, and A Prairie Sunset.
