Program Notes

Driven by a constant sense of propulsion and rippling waves of motion, this piece is aptly titled. The initial shock is provided by the percussion, leading to a tension-filled section with multiple layers of sound scattered throughout the ensemble. Each new entrance is accompanied by solo percussion, building musical pressure to a frenzied, swirling conclusion with the percussion providing one final "aftershock" for a resounding finish.
