Program Notes

Serenade for a Picket Fence was given its first public performance by the Oyster Bay High School Band, Long Island, N.Y., on January 26, 1956, under Donald Luckenbill's leadership with David Chamberlin as marimba soloist. The composition as recorded as a xylophone trio with the American Symphonic Band of the Air on Decca Record.
