Program Notes

This is a fast-paced thriller piece which reimagines the folk song Dayung Sampan. It features industrious and driving rhythms, almost as though building a mechanical sampan (a Southeast Asian boat) that will eventually soar into the sky.

Performance Notes

Pieces in the Variable Difficulty Series are scored in a five-part flexi-ensemble format, each part has an A and B part. The A part ranges around grade 2.5-3.5, and the B part ranges around 1-2. The two parts can be played simultaneously.
