Program Notes

Salute to Allentown, written by Raymond G. Wetherhold in 1924, received national recognition. Aside from being a local crowd pleaser in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, the march was twice recorded and broadcast by Paul Lavalle and his Band of America radio program. The march was also written about in the music reference book, March Music Notes by Norman E. Smith. Inclusion in the book put the composer in the company of internationally recognized names. In 1972, Wetherhold was given the highest honor of the international music honor society, Modern Music Masters, by being made a life member.
