Program Notes

"Saga Candida" means ‘witch who doesn’t deserve to be punished’. It is the first concert suite based upon seven songs from the open-air musical Zaad van Satan, which was shown for the first time in August 2002, in Kruibeke, Belgium. This gigantic spectacle which deals with witchcraft at the beginning of the 17th century attracted more than 10,000 spectators in just a few weeks. Throughout seven contrasting movements (emotions), the persecution of a witch is depicted.
