Program Notes
The traditions of Christmas hymns and carols reach virtually around the world. Stephen Bulla's Russian Carol Variations is based on a jubilant Russian folk melody, The Ashwell Carol. Allow the music to conjure an imaginary picture of Russian winter scenes complete with heavy snowfall and adventurous sleigh rides.
