Program Notes

Rondo for Band was written for the Cincinnatus (N.Y.) Central School Band. The compsition combines lyrical and heroic elements and demonstrates influences of Brahms and Sibelius. From the quiet, introspective opening to the broad climax, the moods of the Adirondack forests are depicted.

- Program Note from score

Rondo for Band represents a more conservative style influenced somewhat by Sibelius. It depicts a world of serenity punctuated by more dramatic and climactic sections. It uses traditional harmonic and contrapuntal techniques of the post romantic period.
