Program Notes

Rhythm becomes the focus of this contemporary work that is extremely suitable for contest or festival. As the title suggests, various grooves and riffs are built into the ensemble throughout as the piece develops harmonically, melodically, and rhythmically. Extremely interesting and a welcome approach for bands at this level, this contemporary work is likely to be the most memorable portion of your concert or festival performance.

Rhythms and Riffs was commissioned by the Iowa Bandmasters Associations for the All-Iowa Eighth Grade Honor Band.
