Program Notes

The idea of the march has always fascinated me, although of special interest is the concert march. Regiment of Heroes March was written for the United States Marine Band in D.C., and is based on some of my early musical sketches. The march opens with a lively syncopated rhythm that often returns throughout the piece. A trio, more stately and sustained, is introduced in contrast to the opening material, which later returns in a more majestic style embellished by the woodwinds - followed by a quick return of the opening material, which brings the piece to its conclusion.
