Program Notes
The United States Air Force Academy Cadet Welfare Fund commissioned The Ramparts in 1965 to celebrate the Academy’s 10th anniversary. The work was premiered in Arnold Hall with the composer conducting the Air Force Academy Band. The central melody is a beautiful chorale based on the Cadet Hymn.
