Program Notes

Commissioned by the Fresno (Calif.) State College Wind Ensemble, this is a demanding piece but worth the time and effort. The alto saxophone makes the theme statement with oboe repeating it, followed by the entire group in preparation for the thrilling allegro. This rollicking section is not for the faint hearted, for it requires delicacy and subtlety along with passion to bring it to the exciting conclusion.
