Porter Eidam
Biography
Porter Eidam is an American composer, conductor, and educator.
Mr. Eidam received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Mansfield University in 1961 and his Master of Music in Woodwind Performance and Pedagogy from Michigan State University in 1978.
Since 1968, Porter has been teacher of woodwind instruments at Pottstown (Penn.) School District. He is a frequent guest conductor of interscholastic music festivals in the Mid-Atlantic and New England states. Mr. Eidam is on the PMEA-approved list of conductors for All State Festival Groups, both for band and orchestra. He has assisted in the development of an educational partnership between the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and the Pottstown School District (a program which has been selected as a state-wide model).
For many years, Mr. Eidam was music director/conductor of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and the Pottstown Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with many famous entertainers such as Liberace, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, and many others.
