Program Notes

Pax Americana (American peace) as originally the term coined for the mostly peaceful times that followed major domestic and world conflicts (the American Civil War, World War I and World War II).Although America is not currently involved in a major military conflict on the scale of these past historical events, there is much disagreement within our borders these days, both politically and ideologically. Many seem to have forgotten the ideals that have made America so great throughout the years.

Pax Americana is a celebration of the many positive things that America stands for – freedom, liberty, democracy, opportunity and the pursuit of happiness.

Pax Americana contains predominantly original material that builds gradually to a bold statement of America the Beautiful. The four distinct sections of the piece represent freedom, imagination, reverence and patriotism.
