Program Notes

Written for the University of Texas Band, this work offers a challenge to the listener as well as the player. The score frequently shifts tonalities, and there are many fresh adventures in sounds and many opportunities for expressive soloistic style. The one-movement work is written in a quasi-choral style and is a refreshing contrast to the driving, dynamic works which are more typical of Williams.
