Program Notes

Overture: Southeast Sunday was commissioned by the Southeast Minnesota Conference for their 1996 Honor Band. I wanted to write something that would evoke the natural beauty of the region as well as the some of the activities of the people living there. The sun rises over the river bluffs, an Amish horse and buggy passes, a hymn (Praise the Lord, His glories show) is heard now and again, a trout stream gurgles invitingly…
