Program Notes

This setting of the lovely Scottish folk tune captures the spirit and charm of the original, a ballad that told the story of the overnight escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie (Prince Charles Edward Stuart) to the Isle of Skye following his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Scored in time, the piece provides melodic opportunities for several instruments.
