Program Notes
Paella is widely eaten by Spaniards during various parties. The work describes the process of rice production from harvest to consumption. All themes are linked to a leitmotif consisting of the four notes from the title of the score. Variations, transformations and a colorful orchestration ensure a nice cohesion in the music piece. Oryza is a strong commitment to the lyrical and the epic.
Oryza is written for the 42nd Altea International Competition in Spain.
