Program Notes
This is a suite of three English folk songs that provides a stylistic nod to the folk song suites of Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams. The first movement, Dance, based upon Early One Morning, is marked moderato. Beginning with a woodwind trio for two flutes and oboe, a slower and more legato Ballad is based upon The Lamps of Night. The closing March, based upon Gaily, the Troubadour, is marked allegro
