Program Notes
The northern lights -- also known as aurora borealis -- are the subject of this stunning piece by Yukiko Nishimura, which weaves together individual musical lines to create a beautiful texture and sonority. The waves of light are similar to the waveform of sound frequencies, and these linear musical sequences depict that concept. Northern Lights is a spectacular, captivating work.
