Program Notes
The work is in two movements. It was commissioned by the Iota Chapter of Kappa Gamma Psi at Ithaca College. Gregg Smith conducted the premiere on April 16, 1968. The work is quite challenging with each instrument acting as an independent voice. There are many difficult rhythms throughout the piece along with an advanced harmonic language.
