Program Notes

This vigorous, exciting work is a powerful musical statement for our times. This work for narrator with band is inspired by a poem from Ralph Waldo Emerson entitled A Nation's Strength, which honors those who have "stood fast and suffered long" in taking to the skies in defense of our country. An uplifting sense of hope is conveyed both in the text and music.

- Program Note from publisher

Commissioned by and dedicated to the United States Air Force "Band of the West" in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of powered flight, Major Dean Zarembinski, Commander/Conductor.
