Program Notes
Montsalvatge's Música per a un diumenge (Music for a Sunday) was commissioned by the Barcelona Municipal Band. It is a festive piece, where Montsalvagte used the same theme he had used in his Fanfarria para la alegria de la paz, written to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the accession to the Spanish throne of King Juan Carlos I and premiered by Mstislav Rostropovich.
