Program Notes

Famous English composer, Henry Purcell (1659-1695) was a significant contributor to the Baroque music era. Perhaps his most famous and frequently performed work remains his Music for Queen Mary II.

Arranged for four-part brass choir by Robert King, Purcell's Music for Queen Mary II is made accessible and versatile. The work was originally composed for orchestra and choir for the funeral of Queen Mary II in 1695 and comprises a march, anthem and canzona.
